I have black m39 slr mount version from 1969. It's sharp wide open, but not quite as sharp as Zuiko 85/2 or Helios-40 85/1.5 @ f/2.

Full test image:

100% center crop @ f/2

100% center crop @ f/2.8

You just step-down a bit and you get F2.2 that is already much sharper. Circular bokeh remains.
