This lens has a M42 mount and yes the largest aperture is F1.2, not the 55mm F1.4 or 55/1.8 as is commonly encountered.
I think this lens quite rare, did not find any info on the net about this lens so I was curious and decided to buy it.

just got this lens, and took some sample pictures with my nikon D60.
since I used a regular M42-nikon adapter so infinity focus can't be obtained

all pictures are straight out of camera JPEGs, just resize.

Nice - looks reasonably sharp to me. What is your maximum focus distance? - actually infinity focus is less important on a specialist lens like this where you are usually isolating a subject from a background.

thanks basilisk, a bit soft but acceptable wide open performance.
I dont see the distance scale on the lens, so I do not know exactly but I think approximately 2-3 meters.
I agree with you, I have some other M42 lenses such as pancolar80 and takumar85, because I liked the half-body portrait so infinity focus less important for these lenses.

Can you post some pictures of the lens itself? Front, rear, side.

Yes, really very interesting. Looks different than Tomioka lenses.
What is it's minimal focusing distance?

The ambar reflection is great. Seems similar to the yashinon ones.

Nice kens. COngrats.

Very interesting. Obviously not a Tomioka product, and obviously even less common than one of those. I like how they went with a flat "pin" instead of cutting a section out of the rear element to have room for a round pin and provide space for the aperture plunger.

you're right, I was thinking the same, viewed from the rear element this is not tomioka typically.

thanks phenix,
I also never heard before.
unfortunately very limited use of the M42 lenses on my nikon camera.
I will be saving money, to be able to buy a mirrorless camera in order to maximize its use.

neither do I, and even the 55/1.4 rarely at my country.

If that is so, the likelihood of you finding this lens in Indonesia (Djakarta?) would seem against impossible odds. I find the serial number most interesting. Possibly the first of a very small group of lenses made for internal evaluation at Mamiya. Perhaps ten or fewer?

I saw this lens at an online auction japan, then I buy it through a friend who is in Japan.
Im googling but didn't find anything about this lens, so about the serial number, maybe you're right.
the serial number shows No. 41001 , This could be the first of a very small group of lenses made for internal evaluation and never in mass production. a prototype? i dont know.
in fact, I have never seen nor heard anything of this lens. even after I looked it up on the internet.

I have an original mamiya/sekor interchangeable lens chart from the 60`s and that is definitely not on it.

It lists the following 28 2.8, 35 2.8,55 1.4, 55 1.8, 50 2, 60 2.8 macro, 135 2.8, 135 3.5, 200 3.5, 200 4.5, 400 6.3, including lens construction.

Congratulations on a nice and very rare find, a non production lens.
