A comparison between the Mamiya-Sekor Zoom C 75-150mm f/4.5 vs Minolta MD Zoom 75-150mm f/4 vs SMC Pentax-M 75-250mm f/4.
First @ 75mm setting:
comparison@75 by devoscasper, on Flickr
The Minolta is the best at this setting. Corners are most clean out of the 3 lenses, with hardly any CA's and best sharpness as well. The Mamiya is about the same @ f/11, but at wider apertures, it shows some significant CA's. The Pentax's corners don't get quite as sharp as the others.
The center image of the Pentax and Mamiya are slightly crisper than the Minolta's, especially wide open, but nothing significant.
Then, @ 105mm setting:
comparison@105 by devoscasper, on Flickr
Best corner resolution comes from the Mamiya, but the Minolta is not far behind. The Pentax a bit worse here; it needs stopping down to f/11 to get close to the others.
CA's don't seem such an issue anymore for the Mamiya, although the Minolta still looks a bit cleaner @ wider apertures.
Finally, the 150mm setting:
comparison@150 by devoscasper, on Flickr
The Mamiya shows overall best performance at the long end. Corners are sharpest, and the cleanest of the bunch.
EDIT: The Pentax is no2 here, and actually better than the Minolta. There are some CA's though.
Conclusion: there's no clear winner here, although I think the Pentax has the weakest performance in this test. The Mamiya shows quite severe CA's at the short end, but the cleanest images at the long end. The Minolta may be the best compromise, with no significant weakness at any setting. Considering these are 100% crops of a 42mp+ camera, its performance is quite admirable.

Thank you again for your hard work , now that you'll have the Zeiss 80-200 coming in, wonder how does it stand against the mamiya and Minolta. It might be ,the only "bad" thing on some lenses would be the weight, in some cases ,very important, but I never found the Minolta zoom available for a decent price neither. My only zoom in this focal length is Mamiya EF 70-150mm ,you should try it as well, as you already have the adapter, and in most of the cases it goes very cheap, I've had some very good results with it,besides it is very light lens. |

Yeah, the Mamiya you're considering I'm definitely interested in.
I found my Minolta 75-150/4 in Japan, for a decent price. Of course there's still the shipping and customs that have to be paid for.
Not sure where you live, but there's one right now on Ebay for just over 73 € in the states, which is not a bad price IMO. |

Is it the same optical formula as Mamiya Sekor Digital 75-150mm f4.5 AF?

Let's see how the lenses perform at close distance. Because everything is bigger on the Mamiya, this is also the case for the MFD which is 1.8 meters. The Minolta and Pentax have an MFD of slightly less than 1.2 meters. But the comparison is @1.8 meters distance.
First @ 75mm:
bokehcomparison@75 by devoscasper, on Flickr
The differences in bokeh are not so obvious at this (non-bokeh-ish) settings. All lenses are sharp @ the tested settings.
Then @ 105mm:
bokehcomparison@105 by devoscasper, on Flickr
Bokeh of the Mamiya looks the least distracting to me, it also looks less contrasty, while the subject itself looks about equally contrasty. All lenses are sharp.
Finally, @ 150mm:
bokehcomparison@150 by devoscasper, on Flickr
Softest bokeh comes from the Mamiya. Softest subject image comes from the Pentax. From earlier tests with the Pentax I know that this effect becomes bigger when you decrease the focusing distance. At MFD/150mm/ f/4 and f/5.6 it is very soft. The Pentax image @ f/8 looks also unsharp, but that's because I closed down the aperture from f/4, at which it is impossible to nail focus because of its softness.
In images with lights and reflections, the bokeh balls of the Mamiya look quite a bit better when stopped down. You can already see it in the images above when you pay attention. In this comparison of cutouts it is obvious:

I had tested it recently on the digital medium format camera:
https://forum.mflenses.com/phase-one-645-dfand-p-25-mamiya-secor-d-zoom-af-75-150mm-4-5-t85353.html
Generally I was satisfied with the result. _________________ "Sharpness is a bourgeois concept" - © H. Cartier Bresson |

Yeah I have to say I’m satisfied with most of the results, only I didn’t expect to see strong CA’s like @ 75mm. Other drawback is that it weights a ton |

Yah. Especially if you put it upon the digital medium format camera - 3.5 kilogram. _________________ "Sharpness is a bourgeois concept" - © H. Cartier Bresson |
