Today arrived to me Mamiya 75-150mm F/4.5 D Lens For Mamiya 645AF system (obtained from KEH Camera Outlet for US $544.93, and the final price for me at the end of the destination in $670 - condition "like the new one")
which I immediately put to the “dirty test†with my only AF prime in that system Mamiya 80mm 2.8 AF 645.
I tested both at 4.5 and 8.0 diaphragms, using my Phase One 645DF+ with the P25 back, at ISO 100, upon the sturdy tripod.
There are the test photos in the full dimension (I didn’t check very mush the flatness and coherence of the camera and the wall, so the better is to look at the centre, and the right side of the picture).
1. Mamiya 75-150mm F/4.5 D, f/4.5

2. Mamiya 80mm 2.8, f/4.5

3. Mamiya 75-150mm F/4.5 D, f/8.0

4. Mamiya 80mm 2.8, f/8.0

What was most sticking for me, that the 75-150mm lens has uniform resolution and sharpness through the field even at f/4.5, and was far away before 80mm 2.8 at that diaphragm. And even at f/8.0 it was steel much, much better. Especially at the borders. _________________ "Sharpness is a bourgeois concept" - © H. Cartier Bresson |

The sun was directly in the frame. Very strange results:

The sunlght - focused by yor lens - is extremely bright. It completely overloads the sensor. A prolonged exposure will even destroy it.

Well, it has to be anyway. Bat the shape is very strange indeed. I have never met anything like that in all my life. _________________ "Sharpness is a bourgeois concept" - © H. Cartier Bresson |
