I am loking for a mirrorless camera with good quality low ISO but long exposures. (up to 15 sec)
I have tried with Lumix g2. Its a verry nice system but the noise is a problem.
Are the newer Lumix much better or should I go for a Sony Nex ?
Any experiences ? |

hm.. I remember that my first digital cameras had developed 'hot pixels' at long exposures but I have been thinking that newer sensors don't have that problem. At least my NEX5N doesn't, just this moment verified with a ISO100 30 sec. exposure, I can't notice any problem, the image looks clean. _________________ my photos on flickr: https://www.flickr.com/photos/kuuan/collections |

If you google for mirrorless long exposure low noise
you might find better information. |

Shure I have googled before posting.
Just couldnt find a good comparison test.
Most just test noise in high ISO.
The grays get a bit bad in long time exposures. Just hoped newer cams or maybe Sony next would have fixed this issue. |

I made a few long time exposures with NEX-5N in the past, all suprisingly clean; I never had problems with NEX-3 and C3 and Sony A550 aswell
I guess all recent Sony APS-C cameras have and quite efficient long time exposure noise reduction.
Btw. some digital cameras like Kodak DCS Pro SLR/c have ISO 6 available, no need of strong ND filters. _________________ I'm not a collector, I'm a tester

I do lots of long exposures with both my NEX-3 and my EOS 450D. The NEX never has hot pixels, the EOS, it sometimes has some with very long exposures in the order of minutes but they are just not a problem, barely noticeable and takes no time at all to remove them in photoshop. _________________ I don't care who designed it, who made it or what country it comes from - I just enjoy using it! |
