Hi: It is one of the best site in this digital era and was honored to be a member of such informatory site. Yesterday i posted a list of equipment which remained for a short while and later disappeared. Anything wrong with the list or it was junk which could not get some space to appear. i simply mentioned the serial # perhaps that was the reason it was removed. i will appreciate if as a new member of this learned community may be informed so that i may get relief. i know it was all junk as compared to my prestigious colleagues but will interprate it as deprivation.

I don't know what happened, probably it was a software error or a just a mistake... Question

Despite having a dozen 50mm, I mostly always use the same Smile That's true for my other lenses. I'd say I *really* use between 5 to 10 lenses.

Too many lenses can be a hard choice indeed jieffe.
My preference goes to 50mm lens , bright , so 1.4 does the job perfectly.

the best lens ever made by craftmanship Cool

I agree, I also tend to use the same 5 to 10 lenses most of the time.
I mean, look at my signature. There's still a lot and I have sold more lenses than I have kept, but most of them see the light outside regularly, they stay, stored well, in my cabinet. Sad

I think there´s no real need to have bunch of lenses if man isn´t pro. The best way is to choose a theme, apropriate tools for shooting it and forget anything other, as it may dissipate from concetrating on the right way. Here´s my lenses:

Zuiko
50/1.8
35/2
(i wish i had 21mm and 85/100mm)

Flexaret II with 80/4.5

I am happy. Before I go shooting, i just grab one camera and go. No long decisicions:) It´s just a tool.

But you miss the fun of playing around with gear. It's not only about shooting. Wink

Maybe it´s fun, for me it ´s better fun to play around in darkroom. If I had time fo playing, i´d rather buy LEGO:p

For sure ! when going on holiday, it takes me about 2.5 minutes to pack the clothes and 2 days to decide the gear I'll bring along Rolling Eyes

I usually try to keep my lens collection really short, and if i find a lens i'm not using much, i try to sell before getting some "new" old gem Embarassed . So my current setup is:

Canon 50D

Olympus zuiko 2/21mm
Carl Zeiss 1.4/35mm
SMC Takumar 3.5/35mm
Carl Zeiss 3.4/35-70mm
Minolta rokkor 1.2/58mm
SMC takumar 1.8/85mm
Olympus zuiko 2/90mm
Leitz elmarit 2.8/90mm

I wonder what does the red colored lenses in Attila's signature means... anyone knows?

Update here with a magnifico Praktica L black, a Contax 139 with a Planar 50mm 1.7. Suffice to say that i'm very happy Cool

MTL has been sold, too technically advanced ! needle metering !!!
what a shame ^.^

i'm kidding, but with the Praktica L i discovered the simple joy of photography : taking time to find spots/people/ stuff to shoot and do manual metering via a spotmeter, which is oh so precise.

Microprism focusing, no EC, no batteries. Pure joy.

A Meyer Oreston 50mm 1.8 to come, which will be my brightest lens in M42's.

I guess I can add my list to the group, though by comparison, its not much of a list.

Contax 139Q
35mm F2.8 AEJ Distagon
85mm F1.4 MMJ Planar

Minolta Maxxum 9
50mm F1.7 Minolta AF

Kodak Retina IIIS
50mm F1.9 Schneider-Kreuznach Retina-Xenon

I do have a Contax 159MM and a bunch of odds and ends on the way in one package, and hopefully an RX that will work longer than three months for me coming in another. Speaking of the RX, I think it needs an eye-cup, anyone know where I might find one?

There was a time when there was more, but it is depressing to think of it all, and the adventures they are all having without me. Crying or Very sad
