Hi everyone,

I trying to adapt a few anamorphic lenses and I'm wondering if someone can recommend some lenses with small front glass elements for use as the taking lens.

I'm looking for lenses with 20-25mm diameter or less for the front glass so that I can get full coverage on a adapter.

Thanks!

Some 3.5/35mm lenses have a rather small front element...or do you need 50mm focal length?

Then:
Kuribayashi or Petri 35mm
Noflexar 35mm

thanks although many of these have deep recessed elements which makes it difficult to put an adapter on it.

Without knowing the mechanical requirements or fitting it's difficult to guess, but the Industar-50 fulfils the basic requirement, as does the Meyer-Optik Görlitz 50mm f/2.9 Meritar or Domiplan, or, indeed, the Schneider-Kreuznach 35mm f/2.8 Curtagon, 50mm f/2.8 Xenar and 85mm f/4 Tele-Arton, as used on the Retina cameras.

Many tessars will fit the bill. Something like Vivitar 55/2.8 can be had for almost nothing.

What is the sensor size and camera mount that you use?

My Robot 45/2.8 Xenar fits the bill for having both a small front element and no too much recess. The Minolta M-Rokkor 28/2.8 has no recess but at 27mm diameter it is just larger than your specs. The Schneider Xenoplan 28/2.0 has a very small front element (20mm) but it is fairly recessed..

Minolta 50mm 3.5 macro

I must confess that I don't understand why you want that small frontlens.
Konica 40mm 1.8 or Minolta 45mm 2.0 would do the job, no large distance between filter thread and first glass.
