A micro lens that as you head to 1-1 ratio the aberrations almost blind the lens . Even more the inside of the elements are splattered with tiny drops of oil. It will never be sharp but it does give a nice effect strait out of camera. These shots have been played with in levels for contrast.

MIne was super crap in macro mode , in normal mode pretty decent. Yours look step better than mine was.

Sigma YS MACRO mode = SOFT FOCUS mode. At least until F11 Smile. Yup, despite built like tank, oil leaks from helicoid system very easily. And it's darn hard to reassemble. You have to fit starting position of three helicoids plus aperture correctly.
