Well then I guess my next question Razz

Adapting to EOS?

Specifically an EOS 400D at this point in time, is this just a simple 'nikon to eos' mount or will I be chasing something a little more specific?

Yes, definitely looks like Nikon F.
No problem to adapt that to EOS. All you need is a Nikon-EOS-adapter.
I am sure that your 400D will works great with this lens!
24mm is such a useful FL on a crop cam!

Just in case you were not aware, this lens was made by Tokina for Vivitar

You guys are such a wealth of information Smile

Where do you find information like this anyway (for example the manufacturer?)

I've had a bit of a look through the Carl Zeiss catalogues (purely out of interest) and it's amazing the amount of information that can be pulled out from the serial, but I haven't seen much regarding other lenses..

I'll post up some results when I receive the adapter and lens then guys! Thankyou Smile

mrfraser89,

It's pretty common knowledge. Here is a link on this site that shows who made what for older Vivitars (70's & 80's models) that was taken from Robert Monaghan's site...

You can see the remains of the rabbit ears. Must have been cut/snapped off. Should be a good performer

patrickh,
The rabbit ears are intact...See the first photo. The last photo they are just cut out of the frame.

Ya got lucky Mr Fraser! That's a TX series interchangeable mount lens. The 24mm is not common and usually goes for good money. I thought I got lucky when I got a "buy it now" for $29.99.

The adapter that's on it is the Nikon F mount from the older T4 series.
