First, center performance @ infinity:

Perfect performance on a hi res digital sensor at all tested apertures from both lenses.
Then, corners:

The Nikkor has better corners. They're about perfect from wide open. @f/11 they're equal. Remember each crop is less than 1% of the total image. The complete image from the Leitz still looks very good @ f/4.
Then, for a CA test I looked for a subject that would potentially generate CA's. Backlighted trees against a bright white sky. 100% crops.

Here is where the Elmar does its magic. Practically no CA's, which is amazing for such an old lens. It must be the Lanthanum glass. The Nikkor shows a bit more CA, bit still very good performance. _________________ For Sale:

Pretty well-corrected lens like the 3-element 90/4.0. Leica really did a good job at making these Elmar with the newly developed using Lanthanum glass in the early 60s. _________________ The best lens is the one you have with you.

I’m taking real life pictures today with the Elmar, and already took a peek at the images. I have to say they’re off the scale in terms of image quality. Better than all my other 135mm lenses. Will post them probably today. _________________ For Sale:
