Today was a remarkable day.

I found a new friendly dealer with some used Leica stuff. One of the lenses for sale was a Leica Summilux 1.4/50mm (1. calculation, second version). A lens normally buyable at *bay for a price not under 1.000 €. I paid less then 30 % of this value and the lens looks like never used in perfect condition. My Leica collection is growing - but I'm still searching for a special APO lens.

Perhaps I will find this lens one day at my new friend for a good price.

Here my new find after quick conversion to Nikon F mount

Congratulations!
Just the first version of this lens does normally not go for the same price of the excellent second version.

Where do you find all those vendors???

Thanks. I found the lens at a well known dealer in Düsseldorf.

Below few shots in the garden to test flare and bokeh. All wide open with D800

Congrats Rolf.

That second shot of the purple flowers shows a very interesting character, look forward to seeing more shots.

Thanks all.

@ Hari - no, actually I don't own any M lens. I sold my complete M6 equipment including lenses 5 or 6 years ago.

Below 2 other test shots this morning into the garden.

First one again to test the bokeh, second one a mid range landscape with larger aperture value at f/5.6.

Both look very nice Rolf.

Do you have a Nikkor 1.4/50?

Just wondered how it compares to the Summilux.

I own a lot of 50mm to 60mm lenses, for the Nikon line I could use

Nikkor 1,2/50 AI
Nikkor 1.4/50 AIS
Nikkor 1.8/50 AI
Nikkor 3.5/55 Ai macro

and converted to Nikon F mount

Leica Summicron 2/50mm
Leica Summilux 1.4/50mm
Leica Macro-Elmarit-R 2.8/60mm

and beside the primes some zoom lenses covering the 50mm focal length

Will provide the forum with the results of a side by side comparision with the 50er primes for Nikon in the next days.

That's a nice line-up Rolf.

I have a lot of 50s too, but none of those, apart from the 3.5/55 Micro-Nikkor-P, which I rate very highly.

My interest is more in the Nikkors than the Leicas as the latter are outside my budgetary range, but I would find it interesting to see the Nikkors and Leicas compared.

Wow, the purple looks good, very good. This lens likes purple.

+1 Smile Especially the Micro-Nikkors are known to be very good. But I guess the in the same speed-class Nikkors would loose.

Thanks Ian. This is a collection over many years. And I bought always very price sensible. I'm not sure that I would buy it today at let say actual *bay prices again.

I understand Rolf, the prices of some lenses are quite silly these days. Sadly Where I live there are very few opportunities to find items so I am pretty much stuck with ebay Sad

I own a bunch of 50's, and they are all good lenses. The 50 summilux is unfortunately a dream unless I can find it at a real bargain. The 50 summicron I have (v.3 E55) does not impress me much on my crop camera, there is nothing special about it. Hard to spot the difference between it and canons 50/1.8 except it is sharper at f2, but by 2.2 it's again hard to see the difference. On a "full frame" camera it's a whole other story tho, there it lives up to it's reputation and then some.
