Well, 100% feedback does not necessarily mean 100% safe, unfortunately.

I purchased a Mir-26b from this seller back in May, 2009, of course stated as Mint. Upon first checking, it seemed OK; however, it turned out there was a misalignment or *something* that happened to the lens, so that the picture would never come in focus (we've all seen one of those, haven't we?).

I contacted the seller and they agreed to give me a replacement. I spent $30 sending the lens back to Russia.

That was in early August. Now it's mid October. They've had the lens back since August 11th, so it's been a full 2 months, and I have yet to receive a replacement.

When I contacted them last month, they said they were looking for, but couldn't find a replacement Mir-26b (they had a Mir-26V, though, which in retrospect I should've maybe asked for and gotten an adapter), and asked that I wait a little longer.

It's been a month since that, but still no replacement.

Worse, they are now ignoring all my emails. I have sent them 3-4 emails in the last two weeks or so, and not one of them has been responded to. I know they're still in business, since new items are being added to their inventory constantly. I've offered to accept another item of similar value (the lens was c.$130US) if finding a Mir-26b is proving to be nigh impossible. No answer there either.

So, basically, they took money from me in May, and since then I've spent an additional $30 to ship the faulty lens back, and I don't have anything in my hands. For 5 months, I have been without my money and without a working product. I feel the least they could do is to keep me updated, but now they are apparently ignoring my emails.

Yes, I'm pissed.

So, let their name be known. Ebay member name: Kubanoid, Store name: Come Back to the USSR; they like to have their items come back to the USSR, but not to have your money come back to you Razz

Well, putting this up and letting the seller know exactly how an Ebay search for "kubanoid" results in (answer: this topic is 4th from top; thanks for letting me know, Attila!), certainly seems to have done the trick, regarding getting a reply.

He replied, apologized, and insured me that they are preparing a replacement for me (by taking the optical elements out of the Mir-26V and putting them in the 26B..... I am a little nervous about this because the fault may actually be mechanical, rather than optical...), which should be shipped out soon.

Therefore, I am going to pend further posting and dissemination of this info until I see where this is going. Please reserve your final judgments regarding this seller until then. Thank you everybody for your support Smile

I hope this will be ending nicely for both of you and we able to remove this post.

If that doesn't sound like coercion, I don't know what does...

I'm not quite following you; am I being criticized?

I don't like to get shafted, and I will do what it takes to right a wrong. Because it has been more than 45 days since the purchase, Ebay/Paypal can't do anything for me, so I will do what I can outside of the system. I spent thes last couple of weeks... hell, the last couple of months, patiently waiting for a replacement and/or an agreeable compromise and got nothing but the silence treatment.

In the last couple of emails I sent before my post here, I let the seller know that I will take measures should he choose to ignore me any longer. He ignored me, so I took measures.

Now, if I wanted to really damage the seller's reputation, I would have posted the same details to Manual Focus Forums, Pentax Forums, APUG forums, Luminous Landscape forums, and all relevant Flickr group discusssion threads. Then I would have bid on and won the cheapest Buy It Now items that are being sold by the seller and given him a negative for each one of them, and commented on what he did with the faulty item. If I put my mind to it, I'm sure I can come up with more ways to hurt him.

However, after all this time, I still gave him the benefit of the doubt. Maybe there was some legitimate reason for them ignoring me.

Well, I didn't get a real explanation, but after realizing that I can actually hurt them, they finally responded after a one-month silence.

Now, personally, if I get a satisfactory replacement item, I'm willing to let this thing rest. Everybody makes mistakes, and so we can just call this that, ask Attila to remove the topic (or I could edit out the Ebay seller's name). But, will I be completely satisfied?

Well, no, actually, because this just shows, in my eyes at least, that they are willing to take care of this matter *only* because they realized I can do damage to them, because of my presence on these forums as well as my internet savvy. But what if I were an Ebay noob? What if I didn't belong to these forums? Would they have responded if I did not know of any means to get back?

The timing of the response I got suggests, although it doesn't prove, that the answer to that would have been NO.

So, I guess people can call it coercion or threat or whatever they like, but IMHO this is nothing but doing what it takes to make a wrong right.

I'm sorry if it wasn't your intent to criticize me, but this is my response if that were indeed the case.

No, I think Rawhead was being 'tongue in cheek' and meaning that you were applying necessary pressure in a "diplomatic fashion". It's always difficult to balance tact with pressure - at this stage you certainly don't want to sound-off and say "Hey, unless you fix things and make me happy I'll bad-mouth you all over the planet" ... even if that really is the message you're sending Very Happy
