Hmm, I am not sure of the price and it may be OK but remember that the The Macro-Hexanon AR 105 mm / F4 is a dedicated macro lens, designed for exclusive use on bellows or extension rings. It has no own helicoid for focusing and is, without bellows or extension rings, too close to the film plane to obtain a sharp image

Does anyone have it with the auto helicoid? And will it reach infinity?
Edit: just found my answer, yes for infinity. http://www.buhla.de/Foto/Konica/Zubehoer/eAutoHelicoidAR.html
If it's IQ is as good as the 55/3.5 Macro, it would be well worth getting. _________________ A Manual Focus Junky...

Check this ad, it's 95 euros for the same lens: https://www.ebay-kleinanzeigen.de/s-anzeige/konica-ft-1-motor-macro-hexanon-4-105mm-vivitar-macro-2-8-55mm/542376238-245-6895
I was wondering about the performance as well, the seller also has a Novoflex bellows for it. _________________ My Flickr photostream: http://www.flickr.com/photos/chantalrene/

KONICA MACRO-HEXANON 105mm F4 LENS + AUTOHELICOID + MC4 is included in the price, but maybe I should avoid it cause I have already a Pentax 100mm 4.0 macro, and I dont know if the Hexanon is any better.. |

I have very little experience with macro photography, so I can't speak from personal experience about this lens' IQ, or how it rates against other similar lenses. But I've been following prices for years and IMO $200 for this lens WITH helicoid is quite reasonable. There are occasionally outstanding deals out there, like the one on EbayJP in Sept. 2013, when a 105mm + helicoid + Autoreflex T3N went for $108, but these are quite rare. In Jan, 2014 a 105mm + helicoid combo on EbayUS went for $215, another one a month later for $230, and last July for $225. The helicoid seems to have been made for a couple of years or so and is a very rare object that I've seen being sold alone for over $150 on a few occasions (this helicoid can be used with many other Konica lenses, BTW. On the barrel, there is a table showing the magnification rate for half a dozen lenses). The lens itself was made from early 1973 to late 1979, so there are far more of them than matching helicoids. Still, it was made in small quantities and doesn't show up all that often. When it does, it is usually alone. It is used far more frequently with a bellows than with the helicoid. I've seen the lens alone go for less than $50 on Craigslist or Goodwill, with sellers not knowing what they have, to ripoffs like the one on Ebay right now with $500 for the lens alone.(incidentally, Kevin bought this lens for 125 USD in Nov. 2013). The Novoflex bellows on the Kleinanzeigen ad TrueLoveOne mentions is very good (I have one). It is well-made, light and has an AE linkage to the lens, which not every bellows has. Hope this helps somewhat. _________________

Last year i paid CHF (USD/EUR) 80.-- for the Macro Hexanon 105mm including the excellent Konica Bellows, slide copier, Konica T2 and 1.4/58mm Hexanon.
The Macro Hexanon goes to infinity when used on the Bellows. It's detail resolution is very good, but one certainly can say the same about most other 100mm / 105mm Macro lenses from that time (Minolta MD 4/100mm, Nikon AiS 2.8/105mm, Canon FD 4/100mm, ...)
