hi
does anyone know if there is a difference in mount between the kodak retina c and the kodak retina reflex III? if so, is there an easy way to make them compatible?

also, if they are different, i have never seen an adapter for retina reflex to either canon ef or m4/3--does anyone know of such adapters?

thanks!
tony

The info you need is here:
http://homepages.ihug.co.nz/~Srawhiti/retinalist.html
or here:

I believe there is an adapter, there was a thread here somewhere...

The Retina Reflex S, III and IV used very similar lenses to the Voigtlander Bessamatic, the mount is nearly identical. There are adapters for these (Retina Reflex+Bessamatic, the same adapter works for both types) to all modern mounts but they aren't cheap (@$100). I think Alex (HK300) may have some.

The Retina IIIS was a rangefinder that used these SLR lenses - a unique case I think ! But these cameras are more rare than the SLR's.

These lenses - Bessamatic, Retina Reflex S, III, IV and Retina IIIs are "complete" lenses, the optical elements + diaphragm mechanism all come with the lens.

The Retina IIIC (and the original Retina Reflex, not the "S" or later) had "incomplete" replaceable lens elements, the rear elements stayed in the camera body with the diaphragm, the front elements only could be swapped. These cannot be adapted to anything of course. The Zeiss Contaflex series were very similar.

thank you both so much, your help is very much appreciated!

what do you guys think about the quality of these lenses generally?

The Retina Reflex "S" was my first SLR, as it was my dad's camera. I sort of took it over from him.

I ran a lot of film through that, 30+ years ago. I thought the lenses I had were superb then, the 2.8/50 Xenar, 2.8/35 Curtagon, 4/135 Tele-Xenar.

Of course, what did I know ?

I haven't been able to try these on my DSLR because I have unfortunately mislaid the camera and lenses. They are in a box somewhere.

Recently I made my own adapter for the 1.9/50 Xenon (ex-ebay), and it seemed like a very fine lens indeed, but I sold it on.

im looking forward to trying a few out and using them mainly on the ep1 because of their size and reputed color rendition. should be fun.
