Yes, indeed, but the low price is definitely due to the spelling error "Rokkon" (sounds like a brand selling Viagra pills ), a "normal" buyer wouldn't have found the item... |

Yeah, Its odd, the site claims to be a camera shop but had no idea what the lens was worth AND misspelled Rokkor? Puzzling for sure. _________________ photos are moments frozen in time |

£700 to £1200 seems to be the going price range for this lens (they are actually being bought at these prices ).
I had to wait a long time to eventually acquire this one at a fraction of those prices, because it had some (very mild) cleanable fungal infection on the front lens.
I don't get it; they are not exactly rare. I mean sure, it is compact for a 250mm lens, but it comes with a lot of drawbacks and "normal" slow 200mm/250mm lenses aren't usually that prohibitively big to start with. IMO mirror lenses make more sense in the 500mm-1000mm range where the size/weight/price difference between mirror lenses and conventional lenses becomes more meaningful.
Let's put it this way; if I desperately needed to complete a collection and this was the last lens missing, I might pay these prices for it, but otherwise if I had a spare £1000 to spend on a lens, the ROKKOR RF 250mm/5.6 would not even make it on the list... (and I'm a ROKKOR fan...) _________________ Mark

It's an interesting lens for being one of the widest consumer photographic mirror lenses made- and it certainly is lightweight (250g!) and small.
But I'm sure the arguments of using crop sensor cameras instead are well known.
Funny it weighs about the same as it's focal length (247g/250g) - what other lenses are like this?
And a typical 200mm f3.5 lens (Tokina) is 525g, Olympus 200mm f5 395g.
Compared to a common 300mm f5.6 mirror lens option, do I find the Minolta to be noticeably smaller? Yes. It's still impressive- even if the smaller diameter is from choosing a shorter focal length. I Wonder how much smaller Tamron could've made this with how they went about catadioptric lenses.
But seeing as how you'd need to use a hood with both... would it matter?

I got mine a few years ago here in a reputable camera store for CHF 100.--, even though they were usually selling for about CHF 1000.-- back then. Around the same time another RF 5.6/250mm was sold in the Zurich area for CHF 100.-- as well. An item with slight fungus went for about CHF 350.-- recently, also here in Switzerland.
