You certainly did well getting your M8u at that price. High ISO settings aren't exactly the strong point of the M8 family and you have a good point about B&W being better than colour. I've been quite happy using the B&W effect in the Capture 1 software that came with the camera, but so many people rave about Silver Efex that I'm tempted to try the free demo.

If it can produce B&W images that look like Tri-X processed in an acutance developer I'd be really impressed, probably enough to take the plunge. But I suspect that the rather ugly behaviour at high ISO settings isn't something that can be substantially transformed, so I'm not getting carried away. For the moment I keep telling myself that I got along very happily with Tri-X rated at between 400 and 600, so why fret too much about the M8's shortcomings at 1250. . . For my photography I don't actually need either ultra high settings or a super-speed lens Very Happy

Just so it does not go un-said.
The Summicron DR will work on the M8 but only in the close focus position.
I have one and have used it. Do not try to pull into the normal position. You can screw up your camera.
The Rigid Summicron has the same optical module as the DR. As well the Barrel is of similar build quality.
I have been lucky and have both although one of mine has an etched rear element from Fungus.
I usually keep the good "lens" in the Rigid mount but occasionally will play around with the M8 and eyes.

I just downloaded the lightroom plugin demo, and Silver Efex is great!
