HKD it is pretty reasonable price, not cheap although.

Maybe the high price is due to the unusual plastic vessel behind the lens? Maybe it's made out of some crystal substance grown using nanotechnology the Soviets were experimenting with during the cold war? Just wondering.

You are wrong. If you carefully look at the paperwork rear the lens, you will notice that the lens elements are made of an extra-rare bleached ruby.
This lens was part of a counter-measures system for cloaking devices ...
