Seems to work fine with all images if they are 1024 wide.

It might be because the main place you are supposed to put oversize images are in the Oversize gallery?

Most places in this forum I think have a specified smaller image setting because many users here can have slower connections,smaller monitors... that hinder larger images loading and being appreciated.
I don't know if this "image size" is built into the software or it is just by being here for awhile now I have seen this discussed.Your 2nd image sits nicely on my monitor where as the first one is not very easy to see properly.

You might be right Mo. Until last week every image I uploaded was 1500x100, so something has changed.

I'll upload pics at 1024 wide, as you say, they sit well on most monitors.

Don't look as bad as I expected either:

When I try to insert my image into post and click on the "galery" link, only last uploaded images are shown and I see no way to get access to the images that I've uploaded earlier. What am I doing wrong?

I think nothing, I don't remember if it shows or not earlier ones ever. Long time ago in my mind to make own gallery to every members from hosted images.
