Image Upload Problem

PostPosted: Sun May 19, 2024 9:25 am    Post subject: Image Upload Problem Reply with quote

I am unable to upload images of any size from a certain set, whether in the original folder or if moved to another. I am unable to upload when I clock "Send" "Bad request, the server does not understand.."

Those images have been uploaded with no problems on another website.

Other images from the same camera and processed in the same software can be uploaded in the reply which refuses the ones in question. This is in the Stereo experiments with adapted lenses thread.

Suggest trying again to be sure the problem wasn't temporary.

Have you tried the Drag and Drop upload?

Tried several times on different days. Drag and drop doesn't work.

Ok let's make sure I understand:

1. Click the Upload picture button
2 . An UploadPic window pops up
3. Click Browse button
4. A file selection window pops up
5. Select file then click Open button
6. The selected filename appears in the Picture file textbox
7. Click the Send button
8. Exclamation I'm getting a "410 page" in the UploadPic window. Time to tell Attila about this problem only he can fix.

Dimensions from 1024 to 1200 to 1600 wide, files sizes 543, 326, 326KB

Other times, if ii accidentally try to upload a file which is too large I will be told so.

Images from the same set, and the same lens, were previously uploaded here with no problem:

I also had issues with some shots for the stereo photo thread. I kept scaling down the size then it worked.

I am also getting 410 errors sometimes. Some pics I can upload, some I can't. There is no real difference between those images but it seems to be consistent which I can upload and which I can't.

410 means the resource has been intentionally removed from the server.

Both given filename had apostrophe in filenames.

DSC04393 Wolf's Milk Printing f11 Crosseye 1200.jpg
DSC02763 Maharaja's Well Bronica 40mm f8 Crosseye 1200.jpg

I removed the apostrophe and after all upload worked properly.

Thanks very much. Such a simple matter but I would never have solved that myself.

Most welcome, this is a programming issue, many software not handle well apostrophe in name.

Can use something like

Code:
sed s/\'/_/

on given input filename. Changes ' to _ Called "munging" https://www.geeksforgeeks.org/what-is-data-munging/

For PHP use
Code:
$output = preg_replace("/".$pattern."/", $replace, $input);
