I have made my decision

After careful consideration, I have now made my decision.

I will sell most of my cameras and lenses. I am now 72 years old, got a new knee 3 months ago, and I think it is now time to part with many things and go more lightweight. I will keep my Sony NEX7, a Contax G2, and the corresponding Contax G lenses 28mm, 45mm and 90mm.

In the coming days, I will post a list of cameras and lenses here, for example Contax N1, Contax RTS III, Nikon D800 and D700, a lot of Nikon and Leica lenses.

Before these items are offered on the usual platforms, I am offering forum members a fair right of first refusal.

A wise decision, Rolf. Good luck with it.

Downsizing is one of those things we have to face.
Last purge was a little over a year ago, and I'm glad I did it.
Gotta be careful with this stuff though- that gear acquisition syndrome can be a sneaky side-mistress at times Wink

Good luck with the sales. I hope you do well, and make at least a percentage back!

I am a similar age and with a titanium knee. I'm getting rid of most of my stuff too.

Good luck to all! I will probably have some interest when lenses are listed. I'm sure at some point I will have to have a sale too, but not today.

It is like President Trump. Every day a new or another decision. Twisted Evil

In the meantime I sold the Contax G2 together with the 2/45 lens. The used prices for this cam are actually high here at the German market and both parts were in excellent, like new conditions. So the selling price was ok.

Actually I'm thinking about to buy a used Lumix GX80/85 to own a "better" MFT cam incl. stabilisation in the cam.

It seems that it will be a Lumix GH5. Got an offer with a fair price. Cam in excellent condition.

So, my new acquisition has arrived.

A LUMIX GH5 in excellent condition with some accessories at a very fair price. For my next short trip to the Netherlands next week, I've selected a few Leica lenses that I want to use. They're not exactly lightweight, as I once thought. But that's just how it is.

Good luck Rolf - I'm in the same process and let 99% of all my lenses go...
All at an auction house, first batch was already sold, 2nd is coming in September.

Hi Klaus,

I have seen your auction. But I´m sure your lenses are very different against my "normal" lenses. Good luck and success for your nexr auction.

Thanks Rolf - also my very best wishes to you!!

Hi guys, slimming down your collection is a sensible move. I did this a few years back for financial and space reasons. Three kids are expensive and bring a lot of clutter!!

Hope your sales went well.

Good luck to all. I am still unwise and I have three equivalent MF lines triplicating Canon Nikon and Minolta lines.

Since I have three kids I plan to pacify my estate but they are so far uninterested by photography.

That sounds a sensible move.

The last few years I've not been using a lot of my lenses and my interest has shifted more towards video and guitar, so I'll be purging about 90% of my lenses and just keeping a few.

This forum used to keep my enthusiasm up, but it has slowed dramatically since I 1st joined.
