A little heads up if anyone in the UK wants a bargain on an A7; Amazingly there is one in the s/h cabinets at LCE in London, for £1099. Someone hasn't given it much chance!

I just bought the - Zeiss 100/2 Macro-Planar with Canon mount for my A7R. Very Happy

I was thinking this could be a nice high quality portrait/ macro lens for my new camera Surprised ??

And the Samyang looks very good and will be on my wishlist Wink

I'm sure you will be delighted with the Macro-Planar! Btw, I forgot the Zuiko OM 21/2 from my list. I have really high hopes for this one Very Happy

I happen to have the C/Y 35/1.4 and 85/1.4 on my A7R. Haven't used it in earnest since I bought the camera yesterday, but the balance and weight are fine. A little less perfect than on my Contax RTS, but definitely comfortable, probably a bit more comfortable than using the same lenses on my NEX-7 with Speed Booster. Although the SB brings the lenses closer to the sensor by 7mm or so, the A7R's greater weight makes for better balance overall.

The C/Y 100/2 I also have but it's in storage. I suspect that'd be pushing it.

The most "effortless" setup I have experienced so far is the NEX-7+SB+C/Y 50/1.4. Somehow the balance and weight and barrel width all just clicked for me. The E-mount opening, Contax SB, and the 50/1.4 are almost exactly the same width.

If you like THAT behavior of the MP ZF100 Lars, then yes...reason I sold mine.

Better get a real APO lens for that... the Leitz 100mm f/2.8 Apo-Macro-Elmarit-R is an overlooked gem,
as good as the Cosina Voigtlander Apo Macro 2.5/125mm, and quite cheaper (around EUR1300)!!

I consider to buy 1-2 or a few super high quality lenses to pair up with my new A7R.
What is considered to be among the best "high end" MF lenses? Surprised

Is the Zeiss planars as good as the rumors?

Compact is good, but not necessary.

The A7r is a new animal which does some incredible things with all sorts of lenses.

here is my first set:
http://flic.kr/s/aHsjNfUCvm

numerous RF lenses in there.

one place to spend money: a compact 28 is not easy. I believe at the moment the Elmarit 28 v3 is "the one". You can see samples in that set. Numerous other 28s are less than optimal--though I think many SLR 28s will be good. But big.

If you do not have the CV 21/1.8 35/1.2 (V1 is better) and the 50/1.1 they are in a class by themselves on this camera.

If you really want a great great great lens for the A7r, then there is the 35 LUX FLE, which is fantastic on the A7r. Unmatched in my extensive research on A7r images.

You can throw your lens lore out the window on this camera. It has a mind of it's own.

PS also note the A7r LOVES the widely trashed CV 35/1.4 MC Smile

this lens is 4500 cheaper than the Leica 35/1.4 FLE, LOL

well OK I did see one go LNIB at RFF for 4300.

I'll be shooting some TS-E 17/4L with my A7R tomorrow, so I'll upload. If I get a chance, will do the same with Hartblei/Zeiss Super Rotator 80/2.8. Oly 21/2 and 28/2 look great on it, too, though I haven't taken serious photos with them yet.

Thx for comments, I will test this Zeiss macro-planar against other 100mm lenses I have for portrait use and it will be nice to have some good working distance when doing macro shots. Wink

How will a well known modern high quality Zeiss lens do against old legacy $100-$200 lenses?!?

That silver Voigtlander is beautiful endeed. Looks similar to ISCO Westagon 50mm.

uhoh7: You said that v1 of the CV 35/1.2 is better. All the reports I've read so far say the opposite. I only have v2 myself so I can't do a comparison. Also, as we all know, there can be considerable sample variation.
