I love Hexanon lenses but this one is usually passed by as its not as sharp as its 1.7/50 cousin. But for portraits, the 52mm has the advantage.

To say frankly, my personal experience with several samples of both kinds left me in the completely opposite opinion.

That's interesting, as the 1.7/50 is supposed to be one of the sharpest 50's out there. Judging by your shots, I must use my 52mm more often.

I owned both of them (sold the 1.7 as it costs more, the 52/1.8 is hard to sell) and shot some boring A-B tests with them, wide open and at 5.6.
