Very nice pics there! Based on these photos, I'm assuming the trademark Helios swirl is not present in this version? _________________ Chris Watson

Afaik there are no swirlies with this Helios -or I didnt manage to find any, its the first time I used it . (Btw the 'M' version of the lens is auto only so to use it other than wide open it has to be modified or fitted to a flanged adapter to engage the push pin.)
For you Mo- a couple more of the Swan first with the Telear 200/3.5 and the second was, I think, the Jupiter37AM

All Helioses are planars. This particular also has 6 lenses in 4 groups. Rumors say this is just a copy of Meyer Oreston/Pentacon 50/1.8 lens. But we will never know probably. |

You may well be right Dmitrygo I was confusing the Helios 77 with the Zenitar 1.7/50 which is an Ultron design. According to our friend No-X in his lists of lens types the Helios 44,77 and Zenitar 2/50 are all Biotar/Xenon types or assymetric planars, as is the Meyer /Pentacon 1.8/50, so the rumour that it is a copy is quite possibly true. Thanks for the info! |

All wide open. I post many samples to let you see the conditions required for the effect.
Sorry for that toning again. Swirly or not?
