Hello All,
I have seen, in a local shop, an Helios 40 85mm f/1.5, that, instead of being silver as usual, or black as the 40-2 version, is a mix of the 2: some parts silver, some parts black. It has an M39 mount and 66 mm filter. Does anyone know anything about this version?
Thank you.
Tiziano
Edit:
I just found this old thread:
http://forum.mflenses.com/helios-40-hybrid-t5936,highlight,%2Bhelios+%2B40.html
Is it possible that they were discussing about the same lens? And, does anybosy remember for how much it was sold?
Unfortunately the ebay auction is gone... |

I think DIY made from black and silver, price in my guess less than cheapest ( silver). My guess is 30% off from silver price is right. _________________ -------------------------------

It looks like an intermidiate version between the Helios 40 and the Helios 40-2. |
Sorry to say Attila is right. If it were a transitional piece, the serial number would be later; right at the end of production for the 40 and beginning of the 40-2. One additional indicator would be that the tripod mount would be rotatable. The later, entirely silver versions have that. |

Thanks! Now that I know it for sure, I'll not buy it! I was hoping to have found something rare! |
