a friend of mine is using the s5pro and his captures are great.
portrait and people he do most and it's a plesuare to watch that pics.
the dynamic rage is outstanding.
and another note for the s5pro.
especially for the raw formats of fuji their is a raw-converter called s7raw.
that gives you the oportunity to improve the raw shots for the camera.

Thanks for that. I would love to see some side by side comparison of images from the S5 vs. other systems to help make up my mind.
My main use for this body will be for landscape and portraiture. I guess have been spoiled by the D2H, sports shooting is now out. |

The S5 Pro will apply NR to jpegs, which will reduce the amount of detail. Doesn't really matter for small prints, but then noise is generally poorly visible in small prints. |

at first i choose canon when i was starting with dslr, because a friend of mine had it also.
at second i recognize that canon supports old mf-lenses best, imho.
but if i had started with nikon, i allready had bought a s5pro without any comparison.
i'm confident that this sensor is the best ever!
so i would like to have a ef bajonett camera with an state of the art "super ccd sr II" chip inside. *dreaming*

That's more like it. The previous link might take the noise floor into account for the dynamic range, but that means it displays all relative values. So while the noise floor might not be that impressive on a S5, though it probably doesn't make a difference to image quality, it range reaches a lot further in the highlights. That allows me to effectively overexpose all images by one stop and pull the shadows details to where I want them. |

Google docs would be a good way to share.
Just a few samples, high contrast scenes.
Thanks. |

May be kind of pointless comparison. But does show colour noise is very low in S5 even at ISO 3200.

No problem. I've converted these to dng, as they are quite a bit smaller that way, but retain all the DR, as far as I could tell.

I think they are both purposely overexposed, but you will see that both images retained all the colour information. From the mountain view photograph (this is by the way where I learned skiing), you can really get cracking blue skies and green grass.
The files are still uploading, so don't fret if you receive an error message from dropbox. |

I do. However, I got a Canon 5D to play with a wider array of manual lenses and can only afford to keep one. |

I started buyign a S5, I was quite new to photography and I decided to sell it for a D700.
Now I have some nice lenses and a great DSLR but I regret the colors of the S5 ... much more natural than the D700.
As it happens I received my first Leica glass the day I sold the S5 ... they could have been good companions
BTW Anyone knows if there are some small adjustment I could input in the D700 in order to come closer to the S5 tone ? |

In camera jpegs probably not and neither does any camera achieve the same past-midgrey dynamic range, but colours can always be pushed in raw processing. _________________ Canon 5D, Jupiter 11A 135mm f/4, Soligor (Tokina) 105mm f/2.8, Nikon 55mm f/1.2 S-Auto, Sigma MF 50mm f/2.8 Macro, Olympus Zuiko 50mm f/1.8 MC, Olympus Zuiko 28mm f/2.8 MC |
