Nice! I have a Fuji Finepix S3000 (3.1mp) that I bought new 5 or 6 years ago. Even 3 mp is more than enough for posting on the Internet, and I've always been quite happy with the image quality of that little camera. An example:
I've always liked Fujinon lenses. What I like least about mine is shutter lag, which can be way too long. How is it on your F10? _________________ Michael

Excellent shot, Michael, and it looks like you used flash, too. Yes, there is
definitely something with the Fujinon lenses. This camera gives me more of
the 3D effect than just about anything I have.
Shutter lag is a problem with the F10, too, -1 for that. |

Oh yeah, I used a flash. I can recall back then that Fuji made some rather high-end zoom-lens SLR-type digicams that were maybe 6mp or more and sold for hundreds of $$$. Nowadays they probably go for pretty cheap. I wouldn't mind finding one of them one day to add to my small collection of digicams, mostly because of the quality of the optics. _________________ Michael

I once had a Fuji S6000fd ... very nice camera!
Looking back, I probably should have kept it. _________________ Fujifilm X-Pro2 / Fujifilm X-T1 / some Sonnar & Takumar lenses |

Yeah, bridge cameras are also sometimes called "ZLRs" as in zoom lens reflex. The concept has been around since the late 1980s. Olympus was one of the first to market one, as I recall. _________________ Michael

Yes, but you are right. They are almost as big as a small DSLR.
The Fuji S6000fd (called the S6500fd here) was really good. Fuji made several excellent series of cameras. It's only a pity that they also made some very bad ones. _________________ Fujifilm X-Pro2 / Fujifilm X-T1 / some Sonnar & Takumar lenses |

Yeah, while my S3000 takes decent pictures, it's just about worn out. I have to tape the battery cover closed and the main control dial is so worn its detents are now mostly just "suggestions." And it routinely shuts itself off when I turn the on/off switch from off to 'preview' to 'on'. _________________ Michael

I certainly recommend the F10 for a packaround if you can find one.
Klaus, thanks, here are a few grabs from today:
A lot of noise in the last due to high ISO for the low light and of course,
subject matter. lol Larger files on the close-ups look better than these.

Yes, this does show the superiority of a DSLR, even if the F10 takes fine pictures, and seems to be great for macro shoots!
I would expect this noise level on my 5D with ISO 3200 _________________ Fujifilm X-Pro2 / Fujifilm X-T1 / some Sonnar & Takumar lenses |

Eeyore_nl, I certainly agree this is nowhere near the quality of a DSLR. The
thing I've found is I'm getting shots that would be missed with such: pulling
the DSLR/SLR out of camera bag, taking off the lens cap, focusing, snapping
the picture. The grasshopper jumped a split second after taking that shot.
It's about getting a picture or no picture at all because you didn't lug around
your camera bag. |

Bingo. My daughter carriers her little 10mp Canon A1000IS around everywhere she goes. It's so small -- about the size of your average cell phone these days -- it'll fit just about anywhere. A good reason in itself to carry one with you.
A shot that might be of lesser image quality than that achieved with a DSLR is infinitely better than no shot at all. _________________ Michael

In my often not so humble opinion this is pretty much totally wrong forum for pocket camera pictures. Maybe DPReview or such place would be better choice.
Sorry about the tone of above - I don't mean to sound evil or snything, but unless you attach an old Soviet manual focus lens to the F10, pictures taken with the camera etc. should not be in MFlenses forum.
But this is just my opinion, and since this thread lives long and prospers, I am sure the admin(s) disagree |
