Here are couple of shots of almost the same scene, shot with the
wide angle Pentax-A 55 (equal to about 33mm view on 35mm
system) and the Arsat 30/3.5 (equal to about 17mm view on
35mm system).

Cropped only. Don't have time to massage these images yet. Laughing

Just for fun, as my work day is over. Very Happy

Edit: Oops, I think the scanner sharpening tool was left on with the
Arsat, no big deal.

Of the two, I pick the first one, the Pentax. Some serious barrel distortion
with the Arsat. But the 30 FL certainly adds a dramatic touch to the
subject.

Yes, the 55 has the most "good stuff". Of course, the 30 was pointed
at quite an angle in order to avoid the 50/50 horizon line. The
distortion can be fixed in Photoshop, with a loss of some of the image.
It's all a compromise.

I could never tire of the PNW coastline, but you really do make it shine as it should Laurence

The software cures nowadays are really quite terrific.

Thanks Patrick! If I was to work on these images other than
just to show focal differences, I would utilize some Levels,
Sharpening, and Shadow Recovery. And, of course, a fix for
the distortions.
