I have a friend who wants to buy one Fisheye for his Canon.

Could you please tell me which one could be a good purchase?

I saw some photos taken for the Zenitar 16mm (from one user I don´t remember) and I liked them very much.

I saw on ebay and it comes from Russia :S I'd pay custom fees and I don't want to.

Please give me more options and if you know some fair prices.

Many thanks

Canon SLR or crop DSLR?

The Zenitar 2.8/16 is a great lens, but it loses a lot from the fisheye effect on a crop DSLR.
The Peleng 3.5/8 still is a real fisheye on a crop DSLR.
Depends on what he wants...

You won't get much better than that considering its price (even with taxes)!!

It is for Canon 40D.

Even with crop situation Zenitar could be a good option.

I'm planning 5D and with that 28mm lens is about the same as 16mm on
1.6x and still I have not been using it for a while because I don't
need so much very wide lens...

full frame also has shorter DOF and that's also positive and negative Smile
If needed more DOF then negative... If needed less and more blur to the
backround with same aperture then positive Smile

My wife may start shooting too so then we would have 2 bodies Smile

Nice one.

Attila go for it. My friend doesn't have enough money right now.

Many thanks for your help.

I think I will sell it after test, so if somebody want to take it I yield him. If not Tanheis consider as sold.

I love my Zenitar.
On 1.5 crop (Pentax) DSLR it loses a lot and a little more on a Canon but I still use it more often than my Sigma 10-20mm.
I have been using the Zenitar on my old Pentax ME Super and the results on 35mm are fantastic.
I also like the Peleng but admit it is limited in its use.
I am now thinking of selling the Peleng and going for the Pentax (Tokina) fisheye zoom. Results I have seen from the lens are pretty good and it may even replace my Zenitar and Peleng?
OK it is AF but AF focus is useless on these wide lenses. (I never have my Sigma 10-20mm on AF)

I'm really impressed with the Zenitar on my D200 and can't wait to try it on the D700.

I can recommend the Sigma 8mm f/4 with MF. I bought mine for a little less than €160 with shipping, practically new optics and in great shape. But since I've never really seen it anywhere else, I can't really say if it's cheap or not.

This lens is actually pretty sharp, even at wide open. I was surprised by this, since I thought fisheyes would be quite unsharp.

Thoroughly recommend my Zenitar though I tend to use it more as a very wide angle on my Pentax. Does look very good on 35mm Film as well, very sharp and excellent for going in close.
