btw, i do need to start thinking about shooting with filters like polarizer etc. my thought has always been, you have an incredibly expensive lens like an L series, why do you want to degrade that glass by shooting through a $50 filter? but i guess i need to reevaluate that philosophy. |
The filters for digital are polarising and neutral density/neutral density graduated. I think every other effect can be added in processing but you cannot restore detail lost to reflections from water or leaves and you cannot restore a blown-out sky or rescue a badly under-exposed subject.
I probably shouldn't post another digital file here, but this is an example of what ND filters can do shooting straight into a sunset:
