Today, to the office.
It looks like new. Even the manual (in Russian Wink) included. The packing box seems to be half of the original one. The hanging belt has never been used, is still folded as originally. The lens, an Helios 44-4M is in pristine status, with the lens cap. I miss the body and back lens caps. The camera inside has no signs of use. Even they were working batteries inside, the alkaline kind (two of them). I've been shooting (without a film yet) and looks like it works fine. Even the simple LED lightmeter seems to be accurate, (compared with the measures done by my compact digital).
This one is my first M42 body, so I'm quite happy today.
I'll be posting some pictures along the week, today I must still work for a while.

Best regards,
Jes.

BTW, someone has got some kind of user manual in an understandable language? Wink

It seems pretty much like the 12xp model, so i guess you can find more scanned manual on the web.

Congrats! I am sure you are going to have a great time with it.

What is the serial number on the camera/lens? I'd like to infer the production year. How bright is the viewfinder ? I think in my Zenit 12xp, some cleaning might be in order, there is some fuzziness that looks like could be cleaned (good case) or require prism mirror replacement (bad case), sometimes the silver gets oxidized due to age..

Erez

Hi Erez, thanks for the pointer. I'm afraid that someone else already gave me a pointer to an user manual (Peter?). When trying to save the page there was another file called "User Manual Zenit 122.pdf", probably I forgot because it has taken so long to arrive!...

I've been looking through the viewfinder late in the afternoon, today a cloudy day here, and even so, I found it quite bright. To me this camera has barely been used. Even the film transport is clean and without marks. All my other cameras have some scratch lines that indicates the flow of the film...

In general, sturdy and a little basic, but comfortable. The look and feel is quite "plastic" or even "bakelite"... But I like it.

Now reading the manual... Not too much work, either Wink
Best regards.
Jes.

Hi Attila!
I'll try to... Anyway it will be difficult to see it and not to try it... Wink
I'd like to see how does it perform with the 135 Sonnar, and with the 28mm Cosinon. And with the Jupiter-9, (the day I get one Confused ).
Best regards.
Jes.

Smile I have also a superb Nikon FA I tried with one roll only I need to find good scanning solution to keep continue shooting. I have 12 different Praktica body couple of Zenit and one Yashica. All cames with lenses except one a Praktica MTL5B I bought 20 yrs before after I sold my first camera a Pentacon Six.

Here it is: http://forum.mflenses.com/viewtopic.php?p=16105#16105 Smile
and have fun.
Basicly is almost the same old Zenit B/E camera but looks more modern.

Cosmin.

PS. What I like at the 122 is that you don't need another button for the DOF and/or light meter (like Praktica or Cosina). Just press half way the shutter's button (like you would want to get an AF Very Happy ) ant the camera closes the aperture and switches on the light meter.

EDIT: Zenit's 12 manual is also ok. 122 is the same as 12 but with a plastic covered body. Here is Zenit 12 manual:

and the PDF

Now is time to show you the new camera. Brand new, from my opinion.

It came packed with half of the original packing box:

including even the original manual and the hanging belt:

The camera was clean, just a little dust all over.

The lens, immaculate...

No scratchs neither useage marks...

Outside and inside:

Even the cover was clean and like new:

So I put a 24 shots ISO 100 colour film inside, and now I'm going out to try it. Smile

The above pictures are not very good, taken with the compact camera with very short light...

Best regards,
Jes.
