My experience with this lens is not so bad. At f1.2 in center it resolves even more details than Takumar/Pentax 1.4/50, but at lower contrast. At f2 it is comparable to Tak/Pentax but is sharper in corners and maybe slightly more contrasty. This field advantage holds till f4-f5.6.
What really hold this lens back are muddy colors and low microcontrast, it never reaches the crispness of the Tak/Pentax not to mention Leicas and Planars.
It's best application is low light photography where with decent PP it can deliver interesting results and allows you to take photos in really dark places without flash. In comparison to original Tomioka 1.2/55 it holds some speed advantage to 1.4 lenses.
I'll try to modify it to be usable on 5D and check it's performance on FF.
