Hi,

few days ago I bought such an adapter with confirm chip. He should be one of the better version (the price wasn´t cheap)

Here some test shots what you have expect with such an adapter on a FF cam. Later on I will try it with a crop cam (450D). These shots here are all taken with Canon 5DMkII.

At first the effect of the adapter (no PP, only converted to JPG and resize)

As you can see, it is a.) necessary to do a lot PP after the shot and b.) not every subject is suitable for this combination.

Here some shots with Vivitar Series 1 f:2.8-3.5/28-90mm (Komine, Ser.No 28xxxx) and Canon FD f:2.5/135mm S.C.. All shots wide open.

Hey Rolf,

I also have the FD-EOS adapter with the glass element. I don't recall seeing the ring that you show in your first two photos, but perhaps I should try mine again. However, I have only a crop-body (1.6x) EOS -- maybe that will eliminate the ring?

Anyway, I have noticed a LOT of flare in my images when I'm shooting wide open with fast glass. It disappears by about f/4. Your images don't appear to be showing much flare at all.

So, I'm wondering, which adapter did you buy? Mine is a Bower, but the same adapter is available under other brand names. It has the ring labeled "Lock--Open" with a red dot above and just to the right of "Lock."

Hi Michael,

here a link to the adapter seller and the adapter itself

Thanks for the link, Rolf. I took a look around their site, and find myself wondering if the adapter you bought might have a different element than the one they offer without the chip. That one, seems like I've seen on eBay before, which also seems to have been made by a different manufacturer than the one that made mine.

So, have you noticed much in the way of flare with your fast lenses wide open?

Hi Michael,

not at present. But I own this adapter since few days and made only few shots with different lenses. Nothing special. Will test this adapter when the weather and the light will be better.

Have a look at this thread - I will add the results within this thread.
