I feel sorry for you for the trouble but I am grateful that you are posting your findings. It may just be getting used to the quirks of a new camera...so keep going and don't give up. Very Happy
Maybe the Pentax forum may help?what does the instruction manual say about it?

yes Mo-Fo, it certainly is my inability

I found out that the dull images must come from:
1: being underexposed in the first place
2: not well postprocessed

my findings so far: I will abandon Av mode with M42 lenses, hope M mode + pressing green button will expose more correctly

if using Lightroom it should be the very latest version 2.6 because earlier do not have the camera calibration of the K-x ( I have been using earlier versions )

just now I used the Pentax software that came with the camera and got better results:

specially also on the before 'dark' 3 ladies:

let's see if I will get used to the different tonality as compared to my earlier camera

cheers,
Andreas

Well I've been playing with a few of your lovely shots in Photoshop and can't see any problem that this program couldn't fix. So even if the camera has faults it's still usable.

thank you Excalibur, I am sure you are right.

I really never have learned much doing PPing, seems that I have had not much necessity before..
but well, now I should dive a bit deeper

thank you,
best regards,
Andreas
