Enna München tele-zoom F4 85-250mm

Hello - anyone with knowledge of this lens?
I can not find much information about it online.
It is with M42 socket and it weighs just over 2 kg.
It is very unwieldy to use on NEX.
There is a socket for a tripod, but the socket does not fit into a standard tripod.

I have only taken a few pictures with the lens as it is very unmanageable.
It has not impressed me, but I will of course take some more pictures with it before I write off it.

I have not owned or used this, but it was among the lenses that were offered with the Alpa.

12 element vario, needing to be refocussed hen zooming..It was described as lightweight with 2ft.close focus at 85mm and 12ft at 250.

I presume it was handy compared with the other long zoom, the Scneider Variogon which also had a substantial handgrip with cable release trigger which contributed to weight and bulk.

If this is the lightweight option i am glad i did not get the Scneider Variogon:-)

It was designed by an immigrant to Switzerland, Jaques Bogopolsky (later Bolsky). He first designed the Bol film camera which morphed into the Bolex made by Paillard, then went on to get the Pignons (=Cogwheel) factory up a side valley to make 35mm cams. Hand made, not all that many and VERY expensive. They bought in optics from outside. First from SOM Berthiot and Angenieux (they were after all in the French part of Switzerland) Later, the Apochromatic 50mm from Kern, Oude Delft and Scneider as well as furter apochomats, 100 and 150 from Kinoptic. Later they bought Kilfitt and others.

Alpa claimed that they selected the kit they bought in by taking test shots. Once I had an Angenieux repaired through them, mr. Bourgeois took great pride in showing me their concrete anchored test stand and target. I have a picture of that somewhere.

Later, the outfit went downhill and had to issue "gold editions" and other junk usually put out by dying companies. When they finally went broke the factory spares were captured by crooks and some fakes were assembled as genuine. The current Alpa co is entirely trustworthy , and is a worthy successor in matters of quality.

In the past, the US importer could quite legitimately change leather colour and install different flash sync contacts etc. with the sustained blessing of the factory, so the the records of Heitz needs to be consulted if the number cited by mr. Thewes from the Swiss records does not correspond to its current condition.

My conclusion is that if the Pignons factory found it wothwhile to buy Enna varios, then they were the best available at the time. Yours has not been selected by them, but the design has.

So far I'm not impressed, but I would give it a few more chances.

I have this lens and it work great for me. But it's to heavy, I have to used a monopod.

And the knowledge and info on this lens I'm still looking for it.
