Thank you-I had the most fun working on the last image. Very Happy

Now, you should remake that same last image again, only with a 300mm lens!

But seriously, though, that took some dedication. 18 images? Wow. And it's just gorgeous. Fantastic image.

Congrats, outstanding images!.
The Meritar is one of the sharpest lenses I've tried. Mine is unable to focus to infinity, it's in Exakta mount.
In your Alpha gives superb results.
Good work!

Regards.
Jes.

Really nice images - tranquility at its best.

Interesting to recall that back in the early 1960s the Meritar was presented (in UK at least) as the "inferior" lens supplied with the Exa/Exakta and Praktica families. The now much-maligned Domiplan was touted as being a great improvement.

Nice images. I have a different looking copy and like the character it produces.

Jes: I'm surprised you call it sharp? Mine is ok at 5.6 and smaller, but it's my softest 50mm.

For what I recall, mine is Smile (maybe not wide open...)

This is my Meritar mounted on the Oly E-P1:

and these are a couple of samples:

Wide open, focus on the table's corner:

Wide open, focus on the vent holes on the lamp:

Better than any of my Domiplans, in my taste...

Regards.
Jes.

I really like my Meritar.

It is not especially sharp, but it is "sharp enough" even here at 5.6 The way it renders is very pleasing. Very common in the Exakta mount as it was the standard Exa lens for over a decade. Tougher to find in M42 - Prakticas were usually supplied with Meyer lenses, and Edixas with Iscos - and not many people apparently would buy such a cheap lens if it weren't already attached to a camera.

I remember visiting Bellingham several years ago to see the Vehicle Research Institute at WWU. Very beautiful area.

Surprisingly good for a simple triplet lens! I must have gotten lemons...

A peacock taken last year. This was either F5.6 or F8.

I just picked one of these up in m42. The Zebra version. Interestingly there is a Meritar on the front of a Bierette in the same bag of stuff.

I'm going to give it a workout then do my 50mm challenge. try'em all against the Nikon and NEX kit lenses
