I heard the Konica 50mm f1.7 should be one of the sharpest legacy lenses out there ...
I have this lens, but never tried it. The 50mm f1.4 I use regulary and I like it very much.

Haha same here Smile I think which 50 is best pointless, all 50mm lens usually excellent from most makers.

I have tried some other 50mm (hélios 44, pentacon 50, ...). All were sharp, but thé hexanon is razor sharp. Maybe toi...

Hexanon is not same level with them for sure, Helios, Pentacon inexpensive mass produced glasses, Hexanon did come from oldest Japanese factory, you need to compare fairly with other top five factory glasses like Leica, Zeiss, Nikon, Canon etc

Leica is out of competition !
I have never tried a zeiss (planar or jena lenses are cheap but don't seem awesome).
If I had money, sure, I would buy some modern leica or zeiss manual lenses.

Never tried canon or nikon Smile

But today, for 30€, I would advice an hexanon lenses instead of a cheap canon or pentacon or helios 50mm.

Very Happy

Click here to see on Ebay take this tool to see magnified LCD screen and look image in darkness even on bright day light, it will increase success ratio a lot.

I get a little pissed at not getting the focus just right too. Thanks Attila I've just ordered one.

Not much use, it the lens is too near to the screen, its not adjustable and will not focus on my screen with any of my glasses on.

Don't give up look some other may you find right one, NEX is pretty painful without viewer.

I've only ever used my viewer once, I never have a problem with the NEX screen, but then again, I rarely have very bright sunlight to deal with.

Try a leica R lens, like the summicron R 50mm, really sharp and cost a lot less. bought one with camera (R3 electronic) for 200€. Great Bokeh (if you like silky smooth) and colours. But it's still the man behind the lens that makes a lens great, so a good photographer makes great shots with 'bad' lenses Razz

Sure.
The first of all is to learn to compose. Whatever the lens, the camera, or accessories, composition makes a picture ! And it is my main weakness.

Then I should improve my skills to focus quickly.

I have in project to buy the full frame nex and some leica lens. Next year.

Hahaha I didn't mean that you where bad in any way dude, it's just that a leica doesn't make you better. Just richer.
Don't doubt your skills, let others do that for you Cool

If all lenses don't focus to infinity, probably means your adapter sucks Smile
Try a 'prost' adapter on ebay cost next to nothing and I find it to be the best of the (cheap) adapters. Great build quality and fit.
I do like the 1.7 50 from konica, but the sentence after the line below explains why. Smile

Is the Prost the same adapter as the Fotasy? They look the same... I have a Fotasy, and it is terrible. No infinity and movement when you try to focus.

Konica 50/1.7 modified to RF coupled Leica M-Mount, wide-open on the M9.

This lens is the equal of the contemporary Summicron.

Thankyou!

I first read about this lens in 1976, with a Pop Photo test of 32 "normal" lenses. It did very well, compared with the Leica Summicron. I ended up adapting it, a Canon 50/1.4, Minolta 50/1.4, and Pentax Super-Tak 50/1.4 to RF coupled M-Mount.

I've stated before that I found my Konica lenses to be unremarkable and not up to the ability of some of my other glass, as an example, my Topcor's destroy them for sharpness.

h'mm well if they are not the best in the world they are at least 2nd best, which still makes them very good lenses.
