Dear All
just wanted to share with you news regarding a new release of Deo-tech Contax G AF adapter.

In June this year they are launching a new version of their Contax G adapter (MK III Golden Eagle) which is compatible with Sony A7

The focusing speed in the video looks better than the one i had with Nex 5n and Mark II Eagle adapter and is really exciting.

Has anyone had a problem with the Mark II version of this adapter, in terms of the fit from the rear of the adapter into the A7 body? I just got one, and on my first attempt to mount it to the camera it felt very rough, unlike any of my other (and very much cheaper adpaters for my other legacy lenses). When I finally got it on, the AF success rate was 50-50, pretty much in line with some of what I've read online. BUT, when I took it off tonight to mount my new FE Sonnar 55, it looks like the Deo adapter has stripped two of the contact heads - the camera won't let me alter the aperture nor will AF work.
Looking into the camera body at the contacts, both the 2nd and 6th from the left are damaged (almost looks like they have been snapped off).
Has anyone seen or heard of damaged contacts due to badly fitting adapters - I can't see anything after various searches using google....appreciate any responses.

Could you post some photos of the damage and the contacts on the AF adapter? I think it might useful for those who is going to use the adapter on their camera.

Damaged the contacts on your body? that doesn't sound very good.
I had some issues with mine - the lens was bending one of the pins on the adapter. In order to avoid this you need to turn aperture ring on the lens to point off the scale before mounting the lens to the adapter.

BTW some of the early MKII adapters like mine do not work very stable with A7. I have tried it briefly on A7 camera of a colleague of mine and it was crashing it from time to time - say every 2-3 minutes. Then you need to pull the battery off and restart.
The only way that Deo-tech support suggested was to upgrade to MKIII version - for which they want the adapter and $150.

Here's the photos: 1st is of the front of the body itself. the broken contacts are second and sixth from the left. Note too how the contacts and the slots they sit in seem rotated from each other in all cases - slot has rotated clockwise relative to the contacts.

The second image is from the rear side of the DEO- Tech Contax-G adapter itself, the side connecting to the camera. Note how the leading edge and contact are seriously damaged. The adapter did feel stiff going on, but not to the point where I'd got the impression something was not going to budge.

Well, that's my weekend plans in tatters.

The contacts on the adapter are too close to the lens mount which presses and rotates the pins on the camera. You should send the photos to the seller and ask they compensate the repair cost of your camera.
