I am a bit confused, maybe you people can clarify this to me.

A Pentacon 300 mm f=1:4 exist, built to cover 6x6 of the Pentacon Six. Also avaible with changeable end part for M42 and for Exakta.

But, what is the Carl Zeiss Jena Sonnar 300 mm 1:4?
Do we speak about the same lens? From pictures I would think not.
What format does it cover? Is it for 35 mm or for 6x6 cm?

The 300 mm Sonnar seems rare, price a lot higher than the Pentacon. The Pentacon exist in at least 3 generations, the Sonnar seems to exist only in black and multicoated.

Does anyone have comparison shots?

Greetings,
Eugen

They are different lenses and will work on medium format OR M42 depending on whether an M42 mount is used. I have both, but haven't tried lugging both of these beasts out for a walk yet Laughing

From all my worst experince was my Zebra Sonnar 300mm bulky , heavy with weak IQ.

The pentacon is a very good lens for the prices it usually fetches. Just be aware that it's very heavy. Most people will use a Tripod rather than handhold it.

I wouldn't part with mine at any price, but I love big lenses, and seem to have fewer problems with shake than most people.

I like the 300mm Tair if you're after a 300mm lens? Big ol' lump it is too, and only a triplet!
