you probably mean that most primes can only dream about such quality
only distortion is quite important _________________ T* |

Congrats for this lens.
It has become my favorite walkaround-lens.
CA and distosion @ 28mm is visible, but with PP in Photoshop it's a minor problem. From 35mm onwards, it is superb without PP.
Hope to see more of your fine photo series. Have fun with it.

hey rolf
as always, i love your eye and photos, and am always happy when you take us along on your morning walks.
i have to be honest though about the lens. i have one also, and i know its supposed to be one of the best ever zooms, and it certainly is priced like one, but i remain unconvinced that it is significantly better to the eye than say the yashica ml 28-80, which i also have and is about 1/3 the price and half the size. that is not to say, like you, one can get very nice results from this lens, just that i question its place in the pantheon of lenses... _________________ Epson RD1 + Elmarit 21/2.8; Summarit 50/1.5; Summarit 75/2.5; Elmar-c 90/4; Sankyo Komura 135/2.8, Hektor 135/4.5; Braun Paxina 29 6x6; Photax Boyer Paris; Holga 120 Pano

yes graham, i agree on the planar 50/1.4 and the 80/1.4. i can even see a small difference on the distagon, though not nearly as much. but i really dont see it at all on the zooms; again, maybe its just me. but when you add the huge difference in cost and bulk vs ml's, you should not have to look so closely to see the difference. _________________ Epson RD1 + Elmarit 21/2.8; Summarit 50/1.5; Summarit 75/2.5; Elmar-c 90/4; Sankyo Komura 135/2.8, Hektor 135/4.5; Braun Paxina 29 6x6; Photax Boyer Paris; Holga 120 Pano

Hi Rolf.
Congrats to your new lens !
This is a small tank - but it's a great lens -- especially at the F=80
It's sharp like a razor and contrast is a la Zeiss ..
Enjoy.
