Not an easy lens, not general purpose, not good as other 85mm, but errors make a good character and it has lot of CA.
Close focus is several meter. I am using NEX-EOS adapter with blades+a Canon EOS-M42 adapter, infinity is fine.
Only question who willing to use this lens at infinity Smile

Lens is a triplet.

I bought lens from member Foreinseil, many thanks! Mod was done by pro repair man, Charles Kalocsay.

@Attila
Nice work,

What is the diameter of the maximum aperture and is the iris assembly removeable?

Iris assemble is built into next adapter by factory , non removable, you can buy only aperture set on Ebay from big_is or jinfinance seller in different diameters-

B/Wes looks very nice. Nice to hear that you're lucky with this lens, I wasn't Wink. The adapter with aperture blades is a very good idea.

But I'm a bit confused. Has you repair man only removed the rear element? Because the rear element is/was simply unsrewable by hands without a problem. I also had it removed a few times without a repairman necessary - it took less than 30 seconds each time Wink
I hope you didn't pay much Confused

Rear element is un-screw-able easily I did know that , but still remain a long tube what is hit blades, have to cut short as possible to allow blades to work. about 2cm long part was cut by repair man. Impossible do it well as DIY.

@Attila,

I found out that the zebra version of this mount has a removeable iris assembly using a lens tool.

I got this message from the seller:

"Thank you for your contacting me on this issue.

As for the item,it can be removeable,as for the max dia of aperture,so sorry for that we dont mesure that ,so we are so sorry for that we also have no idear.

Hope my answer can help you.

Sincerely hope that we will have the chance to do business with you.

Have a nice day
Ada"

I post this info so that it adds to the wonderful body of knowledge that your forum has.

hello
i bought the same lens today for 61 euros,
in order to use it with a nex what are the things i must do?
just unscrew the rear part?
does it work with only an m42 adapter?
what about infinity and the closer focus?

sorry for all the question and for my bad english

best regards
Laurent

You can use it with M42 adapter without modifaction but you can only focus pretty close (~1m or something like that)
After unsrewing the rear element it's quite the opposite - you can't focus close if I remember correctly - a short M42 extension tube added to the lens would solve the problem.

Both ways have their optical and haptical drawbacks - you will see Wink

I confirm above lines, solution for better usage cut long protrude back and buy a SONY NEX-EOS+EOS M42 adapter, you will have long close focus distance 3m and infinity, blades are help to get sharper images and increase your success ratio. CA will still very strong.

I wonder if it might be unecessary to cut (ony unscrew) the end if you add a small M42 extension tube between lens and M42 adapter. Would at least also solve the problem with the long min. focus distance.

I did it before cut rear protrude part, working distance was too short, I can't make even a head and solders portrait, head did fill frame.
