I finally made one, and although I have glued it together and tried it, it was dark when I finished so I will have to check infinity tomorrow. But I'm 99% confident it will be OK,

I chopped the front of a dead Contax, shaped the front plate a bit, made a back plate to retain the focus wheel, and glued it to a NEX - C Mount.

it's different. Laughing

It certainly is "unique" looking ,I hope it works....looking forward to your tests.

I have got a couple of test pictures, one shot as it was getting dark shows that infinity is a distinct possibility. Laughing And the other shot from my chair at about 1.5 meters - both with the Sonnar, and a lot of colour correction, but no sharpening.

Why leave the Contax plate on it? It is easy to take the mount off the camera my Kiev one came apart easily enough.

The focusing mechanism will fit neatly through an M39 adapter and the FFD is not far off either. I'll dig mine out and show you. The helical will come off if you remove the stop mechanism. There are about 6 start points but its not hard to find the correct one. The extended helical allows you to focus closer than the normal 1 metre.

But if it works you can use your Helios 103, mine blew my 1937 Sonnar out of the water.

Although the mount has the external bayonet it isn't any good for the Jupiter 12 much to my dismay.

Test pictures using a C.Z.J. Sonnar 50 / 2 collapsible and a Jupiter 8. 50 / 2. All shots completely untouched or cropped except for sizing.

I'm rather pleased with the steampunk adapter, and very pleased with both lenses. The adapter is a bit big and ungainly, but I wanted to retain the essence of the old Contax, and I think I've done that - for what its worth. Laughing The focusing wheel is fully functional and I found myself using it quite naturally, although I was also just turning the lens as well.

The Sonnar desperately needs a lens hood, the J8 seemed to be far better in the strong sun, although I don't think it's coated. I shall be using these lenses a lot more. Cool
