Hi,
as I understand it there are two versions of this lens, one gives 1:2 reproduction rate, the second, a more premium lens, goes down to 1:1
Can you confirm? What is the full name of the two lenses? How do distinguish them? Are they MM or AE version?
Thank you _________________ https://www.flickr.com/photos/149089857@N03/ |

Yes, I can confirm. The original version was 1:1 and 570g ...

... the later 1:2 version had a "C" and was only 270g:

At 1:10 the Zeiss 2.8/60mm MTF looks extraordinary, at least for vintage normal lens, even at f2.8. Did you check the above Zeiss PDF?

I’m asking it because I find the Yashica surprisingly good, even wide open. It was in production only for a very short time. I wonder whether the Yashica’s performance was maybe a bit too close to the Zeiss to keep it in production. All speculation, I know. No MTF to back it up. Remember a user on the Yashica / Contax forum who apparently owned both lenses and claimed the Yashica was better. Now that’s a bold claim and n=1. But still curious how both lenses compare. |

I have the 1:1 version and it's AE. I'm not aware of any 1:1 version being MM.
The C version is MM.
I have also a Yashica 55/2.8 and a 55/4 but they are retired .
The big brother with 1:1 ratio took their place. _________________ Moderator Himself |
