I've seen several people do this successfully. Caffeinol is a staining developer.
Not my cup of tea.

Maybe OT, an interesting (imho) alt-photo web site with alt-formulae, such as paint-on emulsion, coffee development, & more: Alternative Photography

I have used coffee and tea developing mixtures with moderate success.

Here is some of the coffee grounds, so to speak ==

We have also a good tutorial written by Jules here on the forum: How to Develop B&W Negative Film in Coffee and a long discussion following.

Cheers, M.

I have not had the time to experiment further with tea. My first try gave me negatives, but so light (the negative being almost black) the scanner would not recognize them.

Maybe this is a stupid question, but why would one want to use coffee/tea as developer?

Speaking for myself, to try different things. I don't like to follow, there is no fun in that.
