A quick question. I have the CJZ MC 2.8/180 in pentacon 6 with an m42 adapter and I have now been offered the Olympic version in m42 mount for 100 euro. Is there really much of a difference between these two or is it more the myth of the "Olympia"?

The tripod collar on the olympia version certainly looks more usefull. Can it be used as a stand alone table stand with a dslr attached on the end?

Thanks for any help or advice you can give.

Conor

Its worth grabbing at that price merely as an investment, nevermind the utility. You can certainly resell it for more.

Time to remember that the "Olympia" was made for the Olympic Games in 1936 in Berlin. All others are copies. See serial Number to be sure that it is an "Olympia".

well checking the serial number 40... it looks like it was built in the late 50's so that rules out it being actually made for the olympics. I was under the impression the same design was used until the zebra design was released.

It doesn't matter if it is an actual 1936 "Olympia" - one of those would go for heavy money - its worth at least $250 in decent shape, and more likely more.

Some copy of outstanding better than other Sonnars, some not. Price is cheap. My best copy is better than Nikkor 180 ED or Contax 180mm.
