Tamron was my "first love" some 25 years ago: the ability to use the same lenses on the different SLR systems I was using back then was very appealing and led me to acquire a brand new set comprising a 75-250 zoom plus a couple of fixed wides (28/2.5 and 24/2.5). Pity I didn't keep those.
Many years and many pieces of collectible gear thereafter I decided to get back again to the Tamron family and this time I finally ended up with their fast LD teles and two SP zooms (70-350/4.5 and 70-210/3.5) plus Adaptall-2 mounts for Konica, Leica, Nikon and Rollei. |

Very nice. Never seen such a number on one pic.
But it seems that you have some other nice toys within your cabinet too?

@Nelson: Correct.
Despite the amount of glass involved the 75-350 isn't bad, especially considering its age; sample pics as follows (both shot handheld, focal length was approx. 250mm):

Indeed, and the 180/2.5 becomes 360/2.5 as well... |

Nice to see another Panny L1 user.. and wow what a collection of big Tamrons!
I love the Panny L1.. I have faster DSLRs, newer DSLRs, Higher Res DSLRs and indeed 'better' DSLRs but something about the handling of the Panny draws me back?
What do you like about it (apart from the x2 factor on tele lenses)?
Thanks
Doug

Actually the 2x factor is one of the three things I hate in this camera (the others being its viewfinder and the battery drain)...
But overall, yes, I do prefer the L1 over my FF Kodak SLRs because it's far less clumsy and more portable, handles great, offers LiveView focusing and reliable multi-mode metering in A or M configuration with the majority of my MF lenses (e.g. Hasselblad/Nikon/Leica/M42) and renders great results all the time. |
