The other day I shot a friend's cat (I mean, I took a picture of it) with a Helios 44M (black metal barrel, M39 thread) and I thought that it's amazing how little the cost and how much they offer, don't you think?
Oh, and the cat is a massive cat… they call him Rino (as in rhinoceros); I hope you enjoy it.

Wonderful clear shot and it looks like you got the focus spot on!

I am constantly amazed at the quality of photos these inexpensive manual focus lenses can produce.

That's a most impressive cat ! And yes, those Helioses are great value. I have a battered one which I ought to try again.

Thank you all!
And yes, I think I used the built-in flash, Mo-fo… which usually gives you a terrible look, but just this one it was actually bearable.
Thanks for visiting,

Xavier

Great pic. The cat pose is brilliant.

I'm glad to see another fan of this lens.

Thanks, Martin. I am a fan, but I've got a little problem with it… My copy came with a modified barrel and it doesn't reach infinity (it does focus closer, though… About 30cm). I'd like to put it back to its original state, but I'm not yet sure how. It's great for portraits at the moment, but little else.

Nice shot of a lovely cat with the Helios.

I have no idea how to fix the lens but if it is too complicated or too expensive to have it fix, I will recommend you find another copy of the Helios.
