Bokeh is always a matter of taste an subject, in some shots I like it in others not! It's indeed sharp but blueish CA's are pretty eye-pooping in some situations. Is this normal or are the elements slightly decentered? _________________ I'm not a collector, I'm a tester

So true! |
It's not as hard. I get used to mf lenses and never think about that. Tracking moving object, esp action kids, one needs to feel the lens how it focuses, and mostly estimate the distance between camera and subject. Some vivitars have very short focus throw and useless for tracking object. In general, short distance has too much throw, near infinity has too short throw - all in between is possible. |

Thanks Duc. I also have the FA*84/1.4. Both are very different. I can't tell which one I am prefer. My copy of FA85 auto focus badly near infinity, but portrait distances, it's very good.

#3 and #4 are in the same spot, same time.

Ian and Graham,
The lens has blue CA/PF, but in-focus area it is ok.

The samyang/rokinon costs approx 300-340usd new, I may pick that lens later if fund allow, not my 1st priority. Build quality is not the same.
There are several things I have in mind when first using this lens:
- it is known for high contrast, or black level micro contrast, so I prefer darker or colorful objects
- it is known for 3D rending. My fav photo is #1. There are lots of people so i just pick a random crowd. Distance should have dof cover the whole subject.
- There are mix opinion regarding bokeh.
- Last photo of dancing pair illustrates the CA/PF.
I have one more sample, about +1.3EV over exposure, then adjust black level in PP:
