Thanks for the pics of the m42 prakticar zooms, my original point was that none are branded Carl Zeiss Jena Prakticar though.

It seemed a bit strange to me, you're not familiar with them Smile. Anyway i am sure Carl Zeiss Jena Vario-Pancolar (Prakticar) has very little to do with early Korean zooms or cheaper Japanese stuff. All photos are telling the zoom is hi-quality material. But let's wait for Attila's experience.

So finally this is my shoots from lens all part of finish exactly looks like Praktica PB primes what are made surely in Germany, like Prakticar 20mm f2.8 or 35mm f2.4 coating looks same.

On first picture you can see a side view of Prakticar 35mm f2.4 , compare finish and engraved Made in... same on Japanese Prakticars
mostly different and I not seen ever made in ddr on them.

What a beauty! Looks just like Koji's Vario-Prakticar (hope he doesn't mind me posting his image):

Looks like the M42 version may have been branded differently then! What is the minimum focus distance Attila?

0,8m link not works from Koji's image.

Here's one selling in Hong Kong for 5,000 HK dollars, also M42:

I think this is Koji's pic:

And here's the cover of the manual:

and some pages from the manual:

I found them here:

All images are sharpened while I convert them from RAW to JPEG I always do it, color , contrast mod wasn't required on forest shoots. I had to do it on parliament building. My impression lens coating is good as than T* Contax.
If anybody of you wish to have any raw file let me know.

Impressive lens and very nice series. Congrats, no way is that a Japanese lens, far too good, I've owned both the Sigma and Cosina made Prakticar zooms and they are several leagues below these results.
