Hi folks

I've had this pretty little Tessar enlarging lens lying around for a while. I have remounted it onto the helicoid of an Industar-50 that had a broken aperture, I just removed the optical block then epoxie the Tessar to the front. It works very well and does hit infinity. I need to do some adjustment as it focusses a fair way past infinity.

I think this is an uncoated lens as it has very poor contrast and images look blown out unless underexposed at least a stop.

Sharpness appears good although I need to test it further on a day with some sunshine, it rained all day today.

That seems a very nice result for some fine engineering. Definitely a keeper Smile

Cheers Martin, it fits so well to the Industar, and it took 5 secs to remove the optical block - just unscrew a retaining ring.

I'm now on the lookout for more Industar 50s to use to remount my other ELs as I have some nice ones such as Schacht Travegar 3.5/75, Schneider Componon 5.6/80, Rodenstock Rogonar-S 5.6/90.

Anyone got any broken Industar 50s to dispose of?

Welcome! Nice video, I hope you have lots of pleasure from this lens.

I really like the vintage look it gives the video, sharp but lower contrast and the flare to whiteout is very pretty indeed, if you can use that effect creatively in a production it will look very nice indeed.

Use hood to reduce flare caused by stray lights. The hood should be as long as possible . I use a 6cm hood on the Ross 4/90.

And how do you attach it?

may be a stupid question but is the lens fixed in the helicoid from the industar and can you then focus ????
btw, great results with this old enlarger lens!

young girls at the parking - compared to the lens Smile
i like the easy way you did it, i don´t like that defect Industars will now rise in price and push the good ones up
the flower shots are the best, with a good sunshade and not too wide distances you have a joker for any lens quiz

Oh the Industar was a complete wreck optically, full of fungus with a broken aperture, I would never destroy a working item.

perhaps you could use one of these?
