For over 20 years, this solid made WIESE-PENTASIX 636 - 6x6cm manual medium format camera work horse, works perfectly without any problems with a lot of other lens & macro equipment! The 6x6cm square format slides scanned, can be cropped lateron vertical or horizontal, just perfectly for portraits.

Was this camera popular? (So it can be bought for reasonable money now.) I always wanted to buy 6x6 SLR, but I still hesitate to get a Pentacon Six.

The original camera is a KIEV 88! The firm WIESE-Fototechnik at Hamburg/Germany strips the whole interior parts and replaces all faulty quality materials with approved good parts. A new company owned focal plane cloth shutter will be installed and adjusted. A P-&/K-6 bayonet mount and and mirror-up vevel will be installed. The camera will be sold with an official legal German warranty! The are some other basement producers available, offering the almost same camera fairly cheap on the market. But a cheap buy is not always the best buy, and many of these cameras ending-up for repair at the above mentioned service company! Even on the PENTACON SIX camera body, there are some very cheap offers on the market, which I personally would never touch!

O.K. but a camera is only as good as the photographer behind!

Thanks for the information! I have seen some KIEVs on local auction sites, but heard that the camera is unreliable. But this upgrade sounds good I will have to check it. Smile

Like I've said, an cheap buy is often not the best buy! There is a lot of junk offered in WWW!
